At the moment, I am a young guy working on an independant idea for a science fiction themed game. While attending school, I worked part time, and tried to set time aside for my projects.

Most of my inspiration to start working with science fiction art and what began my independant project HELIX was quite honestly the Halo trillogy. Playing through the games and fighting aliens might not be my forte,  but the designs amazed me, and I wanted to make something that people would love just as much as I did with Bungie's art. Now since I've matured and outgrown Halo, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Fallout fuel my inspiration. If you haven't watched The Forbidden Planet (1952), or read 1984 by George Orwell, I highly recommend sitting down and absorbing a little old school science fiction.

I started out with a simple game idea that changed into a complex storyline. Back in 2009 when I began my work, I drew without much purpose and less imagination. Today, with the help of VCAD and my instructors, HELIX is becoming less of a dream, and more of a reality. So far, MisshapenBox is a one person organization with big goals and insentive to reach them.

WHO I AM

If this is your first time seeing my work, then I welcome you! My name is Xavier Cherry, a small town guy from Nelson BC, who left home early to find success out in Vancouver. I've been here for a little over three years now, comfortably situated with city life and its odd quirks. Started school a month after I graduated in 2012, and I attended classes at the college of Vancouver College of Art and Design (VCAD).

At first, I honestly didn't know what I wanted to do in the industry. Sure, I wanted to be a concept artist, but you have to be damn good at what you do. Companies won't look twice at a tiny little voice just starting out unless you have a revolutionary technique that grabs everyone's attention.

But after finding that creating models in 3D space was more fun than I thought, I started focusing on that half of my course. Should the opportunity arise, I would love to be a concept artist for Bioware, but I would be happy making props or small background characters as long as I can contribute my part.

Also I love cats.
